Title IX Nondiscrimination & Sexual Harassment Policy

Commitment to Nondiscrimination

Cien Aguas International School is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive educational environment free from discrimination and harassment. The School does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any educational program, activity, or employment practice, as prohibited under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

This policy applies to all students, employees, and individuals participating in School-sponsored programs or activities.

Title IX Overview

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. This includes protections against sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation.

Cien Aguas International School complies with all applicable Title IX regulations under 34 CFR Part 106.

Prohibited Conduct

  • Discrimination based on sex
  • Sexual harassment
  • Sexual assault
  • Dating violence
  • Domestic violence
  • Stalking
  • Retaliation against individuals who report or participate in investigations

This policy applies to conduct occurring within School programs or activities, including certain off-campus and online environments where the School exercises substantial control.

Reporting Concerns

Any student, parent, employee, or community member may report concerns related to sex discrimination or sexual harassment.

Reports may be submitted:

  • In person
  • By phone
  • By email
  • By mail
  • Through any method that results in the Title IX Coordinator receiving the report verbally or in writing

All reports will be reviewed promptly and equitably in accordance with School grievance procedures and applicable federal law.

Supportive Measures

The School will provide appropriate supportive measures to individuals involved in complaints of sexual harassment or discrimination, regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed.

  • Academic accommodations
  • Counseling referrals
  • Schedule adjustments
  • Safety planning
  • Other appropriate supports

Employee Reporting Responsibility

All School employees who become aware of potential sex discrimination or sexual harassment are required to report the information to the Title IX Coordinator.

Employees also maintain independent obligations related to mandatory reporting laws concerning child abuse or neglect.

Retaliation Prohibited

Cien Aguas International School strictly prohibits retaliation against any person who:

  • Reports discrimination or harassment
  • Participates in an investigation
  • Assists in a grievance process
  • Exercises rights protected under Title IX

Training & Compliance

The School provides training for students and staff regarding rights and protections under Title IX, definitions of prohibited conduct, reporting obligations, investigation procedures, and prevention of bias and conflicts of interest.

The School also conducts periodic reviews of its programs and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and equitable access for all students.
